The international contest TANCHER DESIGN AWARD 2008 is over. The task for the contest participants was to present a concept of a future communication device. Applications were received from over 20 countries worldwide including: US, Italy, Holland, Singapore, China, India etc. In February the jury defined a shortlist of finalists and now we introduce the winners: First place - Gorlov Timofey gets 1000 Euro Second place - Peter Zsolt Koren gets 500 Euro Third place - Shkinder Maxim gets 300 Euro. Information about the contest The word «Hello» was proposed by Thomas Edison in 1877 as a handshaking word to make sure that the connection between two parties is set right. Nowadays this word is universal and used by everyone, regardless nationality or location, who wants to show that he/she is open for communication
In 130 years after that event, we are wondering: what is happening with communications in our world today and how might the way of communication change in the nearest future. Tancher Corporation, an expert in the field of industrial design, announces an open creative contest to vision and foresee the future communication device. We invite you to join our contest! The date and place of the awarding ceremony will be announced later. The winner's design will be presented in a dummy sample form.
Jury The Jury consist of the following people: Evgeny Maslov- an author of MaslovDesign Vasily Vinogradov - design director of Tancher, the finalist of Bombay Saphire contest Ivan Pokrovsky - CEO of «Electronica» the publisher Dmitry Repin- professor of economics and finance Judging criteria - User interface (including GUI) as a mean of communication, entertainment and information processing - Modern ways of communication appear to be ahead of their time really often. How to maintain the balance between mankind's usual way of communications and modern technology? - How to extend sensual perception of the world by people to make communication more effective (playing with sound, video, smells, emotions...)? - Exchange of information. The world becomes overwhelmed by video, audio, etc. information. How this fact will effect the appearance of mobile device in the future? - Social influence. Different ways of communications take part in society formation. How mobile devices and society effect each other? - Innovation in material used to build a phone. Materials and technology influence in terms of user interfaces and ways of communication. Condition of registration To participate in contest please fill out the registration form. Copyright
Intellectual property rights and all the relative rights will remain the property of the participant. By entering into this contest, all participants irrevocably grant to organizer (Tancher) all rights to publish their work in any mass media source, free of charge, without any prior notice about publication. Intellectual property rights, including copyright and industrial property rights will be transferred from winners to Tancher after signature of agreement and payment of the prize amount (IP fee) to the winner. The registration and the work is accepted for the contest after a written notice sent by organizer to the participant. None of the winners has a right to demand money equivalent of the sponsor prizes. No registration fee is required to participate in the contest.
